This is the news about Jesus Christ — and it is for you. God came as close as flesh. The Father’s voice said, This is my Son. He knows you through and through. He died for you. He is risen. He is known in the breaking of the bread. He asks if you love him.

There was no room. God did not wait for a better world, or a cleaner people, or for you to be ready. He came as a child you could have held — flesh, night, straw, a mother who had said yes.
This is how close he is willing to come. Not as an idea. As a body. The Word became flesh and lived among us, and he came for you.
These seven are not the whole of him. The Gospels are crowded with people who met Jesus — some who trusted him, some who would not, some who were only beginning to find out who he was. Curiosity is allowed. You do not have to know the ending before you look. You do not have to be Catholic. You have to be willing to see.
